![]() White Linen Unfolding In Elegance
We are delighted to offer you this beautiful classic white linen, woven from highest quality flax yarns by the renowned and old-established weavers, Thomas Ferguson. There can be no substitute for this range of crisp white linen sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers. Pure flax linen is the most luxurious bedding fabric of them all - sensuous, cooling and relaxing.
If you are already a flax linen lover, but have yet to experience Thomas Ferguson's pure Irish linen sheets, then you will impressed with the quality. Compared with many other bed linens we've sampled, Thomas Ferguson's superior grade linen is more tightly woven and is heavier in weight. In our opinion, this bed linen range is akin to the finest linens of yesteryear.
In order to secure the best possible prices for all Lily Rose & Wylde customers - probably the lowest prices available for superior quality Irish linen bedding - all orders are placed directly with the weavers in Northern Ireland.
For this reason, please be aware that this is not an off-the-shelf product. Each individual order for Irish linen is cut and stitched specially for you, thus an order will take 3-4 weeks before delivery. Nevertheless, even for those items taking a full month to arrive, we are certain you will agree that pure Irish linen is well worth waiting for!
Irish linen is expensive, even at our highly competitive prices, but it's a wise investment and will save you money in the long-term. Irish linen sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers are incredibly durable and will usually outlive even the finest cotton bedding. Irish linen also becomes softer and more luminous if used regularly, for it responds beautifully to frequent laundering.
To ensure the maximum life-span of your linen, please follow the care instructions given in the article entitled, 'About Flax Linen' (see link below). Suffice it to say here, brand new linen is very crisp, thus it's always a good idea to wash it before use in order to soften the flax fibres.
A brief machine wash at 30-40 degrees C is adequate for this initial softening process, although after a few proper launderings the linen will become softer still. Above all, never use bleach on pure linen as this will weaken the flax fibres and cause discolouration. We recommend laundering in eco-friendly laundry products such as those manufactured by Ecover, being free of potentially damaging chemicals such as chlorine bleach and optical brighteners.
Irish linen sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers feel wonderful against the skin. Due to linen's anti-static properties, it doesn't pick up dust, making it a good choice of bedding for allergy sufferers. If you're not already a convert, we're almost certain that once you've slept on freshly laundered air-dried linen and experienced its special qualities, ordinary bedding made from cotton or polycotton will never suffice again!

We are often asked about thread count, but this is largely irrelevant if you are comparing linen with cotton. By nature, linen has a lower thread count because the threads are heavier and more loosely woven. As a matter of interest, our Superior quality Irish linen has 44 threads/sq.cm, (112 threads per sq.in.), the fabric weight is 160gsm. Despite linen's lower thread count when compared with cotton, Fergusons Irish linen is renowned for its durability and will usually outlive even the best quality cotton.
In short, if you want soft shiny sheets, opt for best quality cotton with a high thread count and very close weave.
If, on the other hand, you love the more open weave and heavier weight of pure linen, then this luxury bedding collection is for you. Indeed, as every linen lover will tell you, the attraction to linen is intensely emotional. There's something special about linen's characteful weave and drape; its crisp coolness to the touch; its strength and luminosity. Only flat sheets are available in this pure Irish linen collection. This enables the top and bottom sheets to be alternated, thus extending the life of your bed linen. Fitted sheets tend to wear out sooner due to the repetitive friction of lying on them. Irish linen bedding is cut and sewn to order and will take 3-4 weeks before delivery. Shipping for Irish linen is only £2.50 no matter how many items you order.

You don't have to iron your Irish linen sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers if you don't have the time or inclination. For it's easy to fall in love with flax linen's natural beauty - wrinkles and all.
For allergy sufferers we strongly advise you to avoid bedding, clothing and fabrics labelled 'easy-iron' or 'wrinkle-free'. Such materials have almost certainly been coated with potentially toxic substances such as formaldehyde resins. Of course, it's advisable to carry out your own research into this issue and then make up your own mind - or, choose natural uncoated fabrics such as pure flax linen and certified organic cotton.
