Here we've chosen to buck the current trend for unforgiveable vintage and retro garments, such as 1960s nylon baby doll nighties and lurid housecoats. Garments such as these are very uncomfortable to wear, trapping perspiration and preventing the skin from 'breathing'. And, of course, the friction of synthetic fibres rubbing against the skin generates crackly static.
A nightmarish vintage/retro bedtime scenario would be to cover yourself from neck to ankle in a pair of 100% polyester pjamas and then attempt to sleep between tangerine brushed nylon sheets. Nerves of steel would be required to cope with the resulting over-stimulation of the nerve endings.
Static generated from wearing petro-chemical based synthetic fibres like nylon, polyester and acrylic is especially noticeable when you start to undress; do so in the dark and any onlooker will literally see the sparks fly!
