Irish linen huckaback towels, together with other pure linen accessories, make lovely gifts for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and a host of celebrations.

Pure flax linen huckaback weave, known affectionately as 'huck', is characterised by its 'honeycomb' texture and has been used since the Middle Ages. This special weave imparts greater volume to linen fabric, increasing its absorbency and drying capacity. Linen huckaback towels pre-date our modern cotton terry towels, which made their debut in the late 19th century.

Linen huckaback towels are lightweight, easily dried and pack away neatly, making them ideal for travelling. Made from 100% flax yarns, these towels are also very durable and will outlive cotton by many years, thus making them perfect for everyday use.

There's no need to keep your linen towels hidden in a drawer awaiting the arrival of an honoured house guest. Having become accustomed to linen huck towels, chances are you may never again choose ordinary terry cotton. As any linen devotee will testify, huckaback linen is great for the skin. When used daily, a huck towel will slough off dead skin cells, leaving your skin feeling smooth and revitalised.

Caring for Pure Linen Towels

Before using a linen towel for the first time, we recommend that you machine wash at 40-50 degrees C. This will soften the flax fibres and increase the fabric's capacity to absorb moisture when in use. Thereafter, the towels can be washed at 50-60 degrees C.

Linen can become discoloured if you use laundry products containing chlorine bleach and optical whiteners. It's best to use an eco-friendly product such as Ecover laundry liquid or powder.
