This sumptuous Art Nouveau inspired handmade guest book and presentation box we've named "Enchantment By Dusk". Wrapped back and front in champagne coloured handloom silk dupion fabric, this book features an unusual and richly embroidered silk Parsi border of flowers and leaves. The embroidery has been created in silk threads on a ground of ivory silk dupion. This design also features quality antiqued brass figurals.
In choosing this guest book, you can opt to leave out the bejewelled dragonfly if you wish. The symbolism of the dragonfly varies from one country to another, but for many it symbolises a positive change in one's life and a sense of renewal.
The dragonfly is made from a metal stamping, which has been aged to a deep bronze hue. The wings we have highlighted in 'German Silver', which is a combination of gold and silver pigments. The dragonfly features four lustrous freshwater pearls, together with vintage glass stones in soft hues of blue and pale amethyst.
As only top grade freshwater pearls, glass stones and brass settings are used in the making of our guest books, this dragonfly could easily have become a quality vintage style brooch.
Even the presentation box is lavishly decorated and features a large reproduction Art Nouveau brass stamping of a maiden with flowing hair amidst sinuous flowering vines. The brass we've coloured 'German Silver', using a specialist product normally used to gild picture frames. The colour is truly beautiful - not brassy or overtly gilded, but a soft hue achieved by blending silver and gold pigments.
The rare and beautiful Parsi (meaning Persian) trim comprises silk embroidered flowers and vines in rich shades of deep red, slate blue, autumnal browns and golds.
Almost two metres of this silk-on-silk trim has been used to decorate the book and box.
The guest book pages are made of handmade white linen paper, with its interesting texture and silken feel. As this is an artisan paper, it retains occasional bits of plant material, adding to its charm. For a romantic flourish, the inside hardcover of the book we've embellished with a lovely handmade rose petal linen paper in pale ivory. The same paper adorns the inside of the presentation box.
Made from quality medium weight handmade acid-free linen paper, slightly textured. Colour off-white/pale ivory.
